James Conducting ‘Patrick Doyle – Shakespeare In Concert’, Walt Disney Theatre Orlando Florida April 16th 2016

James will be conducting a performance of ‘Patrick Doyle – Shakespeare In Concert’ in the new Walt Disney Theatre within the Dr Phillips Centre for the Performing Arts, Orlando Florida on April 16th 2016. The concert features actors from the Prague Shakespeare Company, Orlando Shakespeare Company and the University of Central Florida School for the Performing Arts Symphony Orchestra & Choir. The program features music by the Academy Award Nominated Composer Patrick doyle from his scores for Sir Kenneth Branagh’s Shakespeare films.

James: “I’m delighted to be working with the Prague Shakespeare Company again, Guy Roberts and Jessica Boone are wonderful actors who really know how to deliver an exciting live performance, and on this special occasion they’ll be joined by members of the Orlando Shakespeare Company and the ‘University of Central Florida’s Performing Arts Symphony Orchestra and Choir’. I love conducting this program, though it’s technically incredibly demanding for a conductor. Patrick’s music is intricately written around the text that the actors perform, it’s all live and rather like performing an Opera except that the soloist’s (actors) don’t have a specific rhythm to adhere to with the words, so anything can happen on the night, they might suddenly speed up or slow down unexpectedly, and its down to me to keep the epic orchestral accompaniment in sync with the actors. The effect is thrilling for audiences”.
